Poem
Sand
I have never passed up
an opportunity to slander
the sand.
An unwelcome guest,
overstaying and breaking into
where it is not meant to be:
shoes, sheets,
shirts I did not even take,
even under my skin.
She smiles at the sea,
wave after wave after wave
welcoming her home.
She treasures the sand,
every grain a souvenir
never shaken out.
"Let's take a trip to
this goddamn piece of shit beach."
Here I am again.
